You’re about to learn about an inspiring member of the Body By Brando Waterloo crew who has smashed some awesome goals with his coach Brady, and continues to work hard in both the group and 1:1 PT setting, so strap yourself in and get ready to be impressed!
Reg Leones has been a member at Waterloo for around 2 years now, but let’s start at the beginning and find out what life was like before he joined the crew.
Before BBB, Reg had given other types of group classes, training solo and with a PT a crack but he was bored, and felt like something was missing in his training so was keen to try something new. ‘Before joining I’d thought about trying crossfit-style training for about a year’ he says, and initially his goals were to ‘get motivated with my training again, and improve my overall fitness.’
A pretty familiar situation to a lot of non-BBB members, I imagine…
Fast-forward to present day, and Reg has grown into a well-rounded athlete both physically and mentally, and impresses coaches and members alike with his prowess at skills he was previously unable to do!
Before starting, he says he was most nervous about ‘not being able to do certain workouts or movements, especially never having done gymnastics or Olympic lifting’.
Alas, as soon as he experienced the BBB philosophy and training style, and committed to consistent, marginal gains, he has now achieved some awesome results – including PB’s on his squat snatch and squat clean (two things he was most nervous about doing not long before joining!).
It is common for people to misunderstand our style of training. They see the final product, like members hitting heavy olympic lifts, or performing challenging gymnastics moves, or sweating it out in intensive conditioning pieces, and assume it’s too hard… What they might not realise is that we teach the entire class, for the entire class! We teach our movements in a progressive manner so that all of our athletes know that if something is too advanced, they can just go back to the one they can complete safely.
As Reg himself says, here at BBB ‘it’s not just about lifting heavier, moving faster, or getting quick results. I appreciate the support with learning new skills and improving overall fitness, including nutrition and mobility.’
If you are not convinced that you’re ready and able to keep up with BBB classes, then 1:1 coaching could be the next-level support you need!
Reg has been training with Brady who has ‘helped me work on certain skills and movements. It’s been great to have someone who can help track the progress, make suggestions, and push me through a workout – while also making me laugh. He’s also a big fan of my cookies and cupcakes!’
So there you have it. Living proof that the methods, coaching and crew at Body By Brando are made to suit everyone and anyone, at any point in their fitness journey. So what is next for Reg? ‘Continue working on those gymnastic skills, and hopefully having another crack at the open workouts next year’. And what is next for you? Well, you’ll have to reach out to us and find out!
